ABOUT THE CREATOR

My name is Clayton Ro, and I am the 16-year-old creator of Born This Way.  This project sparked as something of a choice project for my Health class, but quickly became something much more: a way to advocate for the LGBT community.  I’ll be honest. At first, I was feeling careless about the project, but during my brainstorming, I came up with this idea and realized that it could actually be used to help people, especially in a society where LGBT information is so rarely mentioned, leaving its members to do their own research.  With that idea, I got work and put 20+ hours of research, writing, and design into it, not because of a grade, but in hopes of helping those in need. Speaking as a closeted androromantic nonbinary teenager with major anxiety who lives with a family of strong Republicans, something like this could have helped me out a lot.  That’s why I decided to make it myself. You may be wondering how a website like this could help people in the LGBT community. Well, for one, like I just mentioned, the community is barely talked about in positive light in this society, and even when it is, it’s mostly just pride-not helpful information that many new members, or even some older uneducated members, might be in need of.  Within this website, I’ve included information about both physical and mental health, how to help as an ally, and even some history about the beginnings of LGBT rights activism.
